Invisalign may be the pricier orthodontic option, but if you think about it, what you get in the end is a priceless smile you have always wanted. It efficiently straightens teeth while saving you from the hassle and stress normally associated with regular metal braces. As these aligners are custom-made, they are designed to achieve proper alignment of your teeth.
Its many advantages are enough reasons to keep them in good shape. If you are using or planning to get Invisalign, you should know how to clean and take proper care of it. Here are some things you should keep in mind.
Invisalign maintenance should not cost much. A simple denture cleaning product may help you keep it clean when not in use. All you have to do is dissolve a tablet of denture cleaning product on a glass of water and soak your aligners. Soak them for an hour every morning and evening. You may also do this during mealtime or whenever you remove your aligners.
Baking soda is a great alternative to denture cleaning tablets. The best thing about it is you can get it straight from your kitchen. All you need is one tablespoon of baking soda and half a cup of water. Just dissolve the powder and the solution is ready for use. Similar to the use of denture cleaning tablets, you should soak the aligners for approximately an hour.
Use a toothbrush with soft bristles when cleaning the aligners after soaking it on the cleaning solution. This should help remove particles. Rinse them thoroughly before using.
Always check your Invisalign for signs of etching or damage. If you think this is because of the cleaning agent, stop using the product. Also note that some denture tablets, especially the cheap ones, may cause cloudy stains.
